Now in its SIXTEENTH year, The Los Angeles Old Time Social is a festival celebrating American old time fiddle and banjo music in Los Angeles. There will be a Friday Night Concert featuring special guest Ben Townsend from West Virginia! Ben is performing at the Serenito Social Club with an opening set by Tula B. Strong. We will come together for a full day of JAMS and WORKSHOPS in Fiddle, Banjo, Yodeling, Guitar, Harmony Singing, Old-time History, Flatfooting & Square Dance Calling. The evening will wrap up with Musical Cakes, and a Big ol’ Square Dance! Tiki Parlour’s David Bragger will even be even teaching Fiddle AND Banjo Workshops showcasing the tunes of the once-enslaved fiddler Alonzo Janes whose music was passed down to us through fiddler Mel Durham.
